History of Colwood Golf Center
The beginning
Colwood was renovated to its current layout when the City of Portland purchased the land from the National Golf Company in May of 2014. KemperSports was awarded the right to manage the facility after proving successful in their ongoing management of Heron Lakes.
The course today
Immediately the city went to work constructing the 9-hole layout, which opened in April of 2015. The vision for Colwood was to be a place for new users and those returning to the game. This vision led to construction of a brand-new range patio which now features 25 stalls, 12 of which are covered, and stadium lights allowing for practice after sunset. In 2022 Colwood was awarded the National Player Development Award by the National Golf Course Owners Association.
Colwood will continue to be a great location for beginners, and avid players alike for years to come.
