Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Portland Parks Golf – DEI

Portland Parks Board Affirmation of Equity Statement

We recognize that race, socio-economic status, and where you live in Portland are all factors in each resident’s ability to access park facilities and services. The more we are able to diminish the barriers of these factors the further we will be in achieving our vision of equity.

Portland Parks Golf vision

Portland Parks Golf values and respects the diversity of backgrounds and experiences of everyone we work with – from our team members and customers, to the vendors we choose as partners. We are passionate about creating an inclusive and equitable environment for all.  We are committed to making strategic decisions that will help us build and maintain a diverse and talented workforce.

Make Golf Your Thing

Portland Parks Golf is a proud supporter of the Make Golf Your Thing initiative.

Make Golf Your Thing is a collaborative effort that reflects the industry’s commitment to making the sport more diverse, equitable and inclusive. This multi-faceted movement intentionally works to invite more people to golf from all backgrounds, identities and abilities, whether you are participating in the industry as a player, professional, or in business.

All Are Welcome:

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are values that Portland Parks Golf upholds both on and off the course. We welcome all individuals, regardless of their background or identity, and strive to create a safe space and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy the game of golf.

  • All Races
  • All Religions
  • All Countries of Origin

Dress Code

We intentionally do not have a dress code policy. We encourage our guests to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable on the course.

DEI Goals

To assist our organization-wide DEI initiatives, we have have established partnerships with two outstanding leaders in the industry, Roger Steele and Michael Williams.

  • In order to promote and diversify the game, Roger Steele collaborates with Callaway, Nike, Trap Golf, Five Iron Golf, and other brands as a social media influencer and content creator. Roger is a leading voice in the discussion on altering the rules of the game to increase accessibility and diversity, both of which promote development and sustainability.
  • Michael Williams is a consultant in the field of business culture and communications. His efforts in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion have helped numerous organizations world-wide realize their DEI objectives. We collaborate with Williams on best practices to accomplish our system’s mission.
